This is my master graduation project and it is about a dog who eats his owner's dinner, but then feels terrible regret - So much that he spits it out again.
While I was working on my thesis about animals in animation I learned a lot about how to implement non-anthropomorphic characters into animation. I started this project with the motivation to make the dog's behaviour and movement as naturalistic as possible. Similar to the short film Egony, I tried to depict just an animal. But analyzing different animated movies and interviewing animators I realized that this is not the point of animation. Communicating the idea and intention is a lot more important than having realistic actions.
So I changed a lot about the concept of this film. Luckily most humans understand dog behaviour, as we live fairly close to them, so I could maintain typical dog motion and add some funny anthropomorphic animation to him, expecially in the dog's expressions.
